The body of a missing Keady man has been recovered from a river in the area, police have confirmed.
The man – who has not yet been identified – was recovered from the Clea River.
A police spokesperson told Armagh I: “Emergency services and Community Rescue, carrying out a search of the Clea River in Keady, have recovered the body of a man. The thoughts of the Police Service are with his family and friends at this time.”
A large-scale operation was underway on Saturday morning following reports a male had entered the water shortly after 6am.
Due to heavy rain and fast-flowing water, the search involved large stretches of the Clea and Callan Rivers, with fears the search may haven taken several days due to the difficult conditions.
While the search took less than 24 hours, the end was one of tragedy, with police confirming the news on Sunday morning.
Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time.
